"Chromosome" by Lori Saux and Stephen Saux
Arrangement and mixing by Brady Harris
And 3-21...
When I think back on all those fears when I was pregnant.
All of them dismissed except for one.
The only test the state mandated was genetic.
Looking for that extra chromosome.
Chromosome, a child who knows only limits.
A burden on society.
A quality of life a weight on your family. (Oh yeah)
But they don’t know you Liam.
All the things that you will do.
No momma wouldn’t take that chromosome away.
We fight hard for him to be educated.
An inclusive classroom with his peers.
But it’s a trailer for the “special ones” they offered.
And whispered no one really wants him here.
Chromosome, the kids will learn from each other.
It’s better for society.
Teaching love, compassion and empathy. (Oh yeah)
And despite your judgements.
He’ll decide what he can do.
Mamma wouldn’t take that chromosome away.
Mamma wouldn’t take that chromosome away.
Mamma wouldn’t take that chromosome away.
Mamma wouldn’t take that chromosome away.
Mamma wouldn’t take that chromosome away.
Mamma wouldn’t take that chromosome.
Mamma wouldn’t take that chromosome.
Mamma wouldn’t take that chromosome away.
Mamma wouldn’t take that chromosome.
Your stereotypes were all wrong.
Mamma wouldn’t take that chromosome away.
Mamma wouldn’t take that chromosome.
Mamma wouldn’t take that chromosome.
Mamma wouldn’t take that chromosome away.
Okay!
